Fairfield downs the Eagles by a score of 203-184

The Lady Eagles squandered an opportunity to beat the conference's best team on Tuesday at home. The team knew it would take a great effort to beat the Fairfield Lady Falcons, but unfortunately it only got two solid rounds out of their top five players. Liz Carlson and Alivia Behnfeldt put the team in a good position after two golfers with scores of 40 and 45. However, the remainder of the team could do no better than 57. The loss put the team's record to 0-1 overall, and 0-1 in the NECC.

The team will next see action on Thursday as it hosts the Fremont Fall Classic at Lake James. The action begins at 8:00 a.m.

Lady Eagles finish 4th at Leo Invitational

The Lady Eagles started the season off in a good fashion in finishing fourth at the Leo Lady Lions Invitational on Thursday. The team encountered difficulty with Cedar Creek's undulating and inconsistent greens. However, even with that they finished a respectable fourth place in a field of eight. Winning the invitational was reigning state champion Hamilton Southeastern with a solid 332. Hamilton Southeastern's JV team was second with a 375. The Eagles finished 11 shots off of Sectional opponent Fort Wayne Carroll who shot 415. The team was led by Liz Carlson's 82, which included a sensational last four holes. Alivia Behnfeldt shot 110, Laura Dennis shot 115, Joy Thompson shot 119, and finally Jessica Mofield shot a 122. The team will be back in action on Tuesday against Fairfield at home. Good job ladies.

Nick shoots 87 at Regionals

Nick got off to a solid start on the first hole at the Regionals on Thursday at Orchard Ridge Country Club on a rain-plagued round of golf. With an easy par on hole 1 it seemed Nick was ready to roll, however, an errant tee shot on hole 2 was a sign of things to come. Nick went on to double bogey the hole and struggled through the rest of his round en route to an 87. The result today was in no way an indication Nick's golf season or career at Fremont. Even in his struggles, Nick maintained a good attitude and was not in any way a poor sport. Nick will move on to bigger and better things in life, but for the time being he will be considered one of Fremont's best golfers of the recent past and more importantly a great individual.

Golf team sixth at Sectionals, Nick breaks school-record with 69

The Varsity golf team went in to the Sectionals on Friday understanding that they would need to shoot better than they did at the conference meet. The team did, but unfortunately not by enough. Starting on the back nine, the team struggled out of the gate with a 171 on the back nine. Nick, Austin, and Brandin kept it together pretty well even with the score being the way that it was. The front nine was flat out amazing. Led by Nick Herndon's 33 on the front, the team scored a 151 on that side to have a team total of 327. A 327 was good enough for sixth place. The story of the day was Nick Herndon's 69, which by the way is the NEW school-record. Nick's score was tied for medalist with Michael Sharp of East Noble. Nick lost on the extra hole with a par to Sharp's birdie. Homestead won the Sectional with a 292, Carroll shot 305, DeKalb shot 316 to round out the top three and will move on to Regionals at Orchard Ridge on Thursday. As individuals, Michael Sharp and Bennett Rieke will join Nick at the Regionals.

Also scoring well for Fremont was Austin Corcimiglia with a 79, Brandin Ross shot 88, Jordon Schmucker shot 91 (55-36 splits), and Tyler Jenkins shot 94.
